Paper Wings Winter 20 Drop 1 is here and we are in love with all the beautiful prints and styles for girls this season. And if you are reading this, I believe you are a fan of Paper Wings clothing too.
Or perhaps you are new to the brand and you have a few questions regarding the sizing of their jackets. Or the quality of their dresses. Or maybe you are just wondering where they get all their pretty prints from?
Whether you are new to the brand or have been a Paper Wings fan for ages getting in-depth information about the individual styles of the new Paper Wings Winter 20 collection helps you make better informed choices when it comes to buying Paper Wings clothing online.
At Annie and Islabean we love happy customers and we understand how disappointing it can be when you order a new outfit for your child only for it to arrive two sizes too small. And with every Australian fashion brand using different sizing measurements it can get confusing at the best of times.
But don’t fret! We are here to help.
Girls skirt in a quirky unicorn print with a life like meadow background. Now, true unicorn fans will know that a unicorn with wings is called a Pegasus. So, whether you are a unicorn fan or a Pegasus fan this one is for you!
The Paper Wings Dusk Border Gathered Skirt is made from 100% organic cotton knit and can be worn all year round. Wear it with a pair of off-white tights and the matching Paper Wings Dusk Satin Bomber Jacket in Winter or with a singlet or short sleeve t-shirt in Summer.
All Paper Wings garments are ethically made in Vietnam under the highest standards using the best quality fabrics. Meaning your little sister will eventually get a chance too to wear your highly coveted Paper Wings skirt after you sadly grow out of it.
The Paper Wings Dusk Satin Bomber is a statement piece that will have your best friend drooling with envy. Seriously, she will make up tons of excuses to borrow your jacket.
With a couple of prancing Pegasi (aka winged unicorns) on the front and a grazing Pegasus on the back this jacket matches the Paper Wings Dusk Border Gathered Skirt to perfection, and it will be a hard task to get your little one to wear any other outfit this Winter.
The Paper Wings Satin Bomber is made from 100% Polyester including the lining and padding. Sadly, no organic cotton was used to create this masterpiece. But we can forgive Paper Wings for the synthetic fibres when the print is this good.
It has a front zip, because no one likes struggling with opening a closing jacket buttons and ribbed self-cuffs, hem and neckline. The ribbed edges help keep the jacket in place and keeps the warmth inside.
The Paper Wings Nurture Nature Winter 20 collection boast of the loveliest rose and unicorn prints to be found in children’s fashion this Winter season, with the Paper Wings Rose Unicorn Dress containing a bit of both.
We love the floaty look and feel of the Paper Wings Rose Unicorn Dress with its bell sleeves and twirling skirt. Made from 100 Rayon Poplin it has a silky-smooth feel against your little one’s skin.
It is made of a light-weighted fabric best suited for cool Autumn days or nights and will need a top layer during the colder Winter months.
The Paper Wings Rose Unicorn Dress is true to size and if your daughter is 5 years old a size 5 would be her ideal fit. Saying that it has a hi-lo frill skirt and if your daughter is on the tall side a size up might be a better fit for her. Otherwise the dress may appear a little short at the front.
The Paper Wings Winter Nurture Nature Drop 1 collection features some of our favourite Paper Wings pieces to date, with the Paper Wings Winter Roses Sweater high up the list. In true Paper Wings style the print reminds us of a canvas painting of Winter roses and sweet birds. A print you are as likely to find on a painting in a museum or at Nana’s house.
The Paper Wings Winter Roses Sweater is made from 100% organic cotton fleece, super soft and warm she will be cosying in it all Winter. With ribbed self-cuffs and neckline to keep the warmth inside.
The Paper Wings Winter Roses print is also available in girls’ leggings for those who love a matching print outfit. Personally, we would recommend wearing either with a plain tee or plain leggings to avoid a print overload.
Another favourite Paper Wings dress this season is the Paper Wings Folk Embroidery Dress. A lot of detail went into the design and manufacturing of this dress. And with its timeless nature and impeccable quality I am sure it will be worn by many generations to come.
The Paper Wings Folk Embroidery Dress is made from 100% cotton chambray with buttons at the front and beautiful floral and baby bird embroideries on both sleeves.
We recommend wearing it with the matching Paper Wings Embroidered Print Leggings to keep little legs warm.
The Paper Wings Folk Embroidery Dress is true to size. If your daughter is 4 years old a size 4 would be her ideal fit.
Who would love a little sneak peek of what is to come? The Paper Wings Nurture Nature Winter 20 collection has been broken up into 2 drops. With Drop 1 boasting of predominantly unicorn (or Pegasus if you insist on the technical term) and floral prints, it has been classified as the “Nature” drop of Winter 20.
Drop 2 has a couple of themes up its sleeve with a strong correlation between the two themes. Without giving away too much one of the themes starts with a “S” and ends with “pace”. ;D As for the other theme you will just have to wait and see. You will get no more spoilers from me.
We compared Paper Wings sizing with Minti’s sizing and found that they have very similar sizing. Paper Wings garments are slightly wider in the chest and hips then Minti’s garments. However, Minti clothing is slightly more generous length wise. Therefore, if your daughter is above average in height for her age, we would recommend you purchase the next size up.
Please note that each garment differs in design and therefore in size. Some garments are meant to be loose fitted and will therefore be roomier in the chest and waist. While some clothing items for example leggings are meant to be tight and will be narrower by default.
How to measure?
Ask your daughter to stand flat against a wall. Measure from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet and compare it to the height measurement on the Paper Wings Size Chart.
Similarly measure around her chest (just below her armpits), the narrowest parts of her waist and the widest part of her hips and compare it to the relevant measurements on the Paper Wings Size Chart.
For the sleeve measurement, measure from the bottom of her neck to the part of her forearm where it meets her hands. Again, allow for variations between different Paper Wings styles.
Paper Wings garments are designed to be worn mixed and match. Their prints are quirky, fun and bold and when mixed with another quirky and fun print the true magic happens.
Did you know Paper Wings is a small family run business? Not a big corporation, just a regular old, mum, dad and daughter combo.
Owning their own factory means they have full control over the production process and the quality of their garments.
Paper Wings is committed to minimise their textile waste by using organic cotton where possible, printing with low impact dyes and by up cycling any left over fabrics each season.
The Paper Wings up cycle collections not only reduce their textile waste foot print but also creates jobs for their staff between busy productions periods of the Summer and Winter ranges.
