COVID-19 UPDATE – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
At Annie and Islabean we are trying our best to “flatten the curve” and to do our best to keep ourselves, our local community and our lovely customers as safe as possible.
We still send parcels daily. And as long as Australia Post continues to operate so will we.
All our stock is currently located at home with us while we are self-isolating as much as possible to help flatten the curve.
We are doing daily postal runs (once a day before 3 pm) where we practice safe distancing measures. There is no direct human contact between us and anyone working at Australia Post.
Shipping delays - Updated 26th of April.
At Annie and Islabean we have been humbled by all the support we have received from our customers during this unprecedented crisis. We feel honoured to be part of such a wonderful community who supports Australian designers and small businesses.
Thank you so much for your continued support and patience during this time of uncertainty and stress for many.
While we are not experiencing any dispatching delays, Australia Post is experiencing very high volumes of parcels which has resulted in shipping delays.
To minimise delays Australia Post is retraining their postal delivery personnel to be able to drive vans and deliver parcels instead of letters. They have reduced letter delivery to only twice a week in urban areas. And they are working closely with the government to come up with a solution of increasing the number of staff sorting mail whilst staying compliant to social distancing measures.
You may have noticed that your local delivery person is also delivering parcels on Saturdays and Sundays as another way to minimise shipping delays.
As of Sunday, the 26th of April, Australia Post can no longer guarantee next day delivery for parcels send via Express Post. This is still the fastest method of sending and receiving parcels. If you need your parcel urgently, we highly recommend opting for Express Post when checking out.
Even though there are major shipping delays and a lot that is out of our control there are still a few things we can do to minimise the impact.
When you place an order with Annie and Islabean we automatically send you an order confirmation email. Once we have packed your order you will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number and a link. You can track and stay up to date with your parcel's whereabouts and expected delivery date by clicking on the link.
Alternatively, please email us if you need any help tracking your parcel. This is part of the service we provide to our customers and we are more than happy to help.
If you have a birthday or special event coming up and you need to purchase a gift, we recommend ordering an extra week in advance to avoid disappointment. If you have left things last minute please opt for Express Post and feel free to contact us if you have any concerns. We will be able to tell you if we think the parcel might not make it in time. We also offer free gift wrapping and a gift tag if you want to include a small message to the lucky recipient.

Below is a short list of new protocols to be aware off:
As of the 27th of March, some Post Offices have been closed. Please check here if your local Post Office has been affected.
No signature required – all parcels whether they are delivered at home or picked up in store won’t be signed for by the customer. Instead your local postie will sign on your behalf.
If you are unwell and receive a delivery. Please do not open the door. Instead communicate this to your local delivery person and request then to leave the parcel at your door.
Please be kind to your delivery person. They are delivering huge volumes of parcels daily and working tirelessly, even on weekends, to minimise delivery delays. Perhaps considering leaving them a bottle of water or a little note to thank them for their continued work during these difficult times.
Lastly, I would just like to mention that we are not unaffected by these difficult times. We have our moments where we are scared for the health and well-being of our children, family, friends and greater community.
We wake up uncertain of what news and challenges the day will bring and how the future will look.
But we have our family home safe with us, a good stash of toilet paper (12 rolls to be exact!) and a lot to be grateful for.
We understand that kids’ fashion is not an essential item for most families during these uncertain times but if you want to get something functional for example trackie pants or something pretty to cheer up your little people at home rest assured that we are operating as normal.
To our lovely customers, we want to thank you for all your support, patience and the kindness you have shown us over the last few weeks. We are working hard to minimise any shipping delays and getting your parcels to your door as soon as possible.
